From Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station we drove straight to the hotel which was about an hour’s drive to Wulingyuan Town.

Wulingyuan Town

Wulingyuan District is one of two urban districts in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, China, it is also the smallest district by population in Hunan. Located on the central area of Zhangjiajie, the district is surrounded by Cili County to the northeast and southeast, to the north by Sangzhi County, to the south and southwest by Yongding District. The district is named after Wulingyuan of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of famous scenic zones. The map beneath shows the Wulingyuan District, where Wulingyuan Town (utmost right center on the map) is part of.

After checking in The Wandelgek agreed upon a pickup time for the next morning after breakfast with Gaby for a first day of exploring the world famous Zhangjiajie nature.

In Huangshan City The Wandelgek did have an excellent very large hotel room and he wondered whether that could be any better, but in fact it could 😀.

This room at the Metropolo Jinjiang Hotel in Wulingyuan Town, was nothing short of amazing!

The room was spacious with a large, soft double bed, a large television, a small seat to drink tea or coffee and some closets for coats. Important with this heat were air conditioning and a supply of water bottles which were both present.

Lying in bed, watching a chinese drama series was fine, but this room had an extra: The …

Bath room

And what a Bathroom this was…

You might think it looks really good but what’s so special about it?

There’s a huge bath, a separate shower cabin, a toilet and an area to wash hands, face, brush teeth and shave …

But …. wait for it …. there was so much more …

There was this huge glass window which made it possible to view the whole hotel room including the large television, from within the bath 😝. Beneath is the view from the hotel room into the bath room …

Best news however was that I would occupy this room for 3 nights 🥳🥳🥳

And thus The Wandelgek filled the bath with steaming, foaming hot water, opened a beer can and ….

… enjoyed watching chinese television shows without sound 🤣😂

It was seriously next level budget travel🤣😂

After a long bath and good scrub, The wandelgek was ready to enjoy the:

Restaurant

Most people already had dinner…

But the restaurant was still open for a few late guests.

The Wandelgek ordered some cauliflower covered in herbs and spices , a large bottle of sweet pumpkin juice and tea. Delicious if you do not want too full a stomach.

The next morning and subsequent days, The Wandelgek enjoyed the expansive breakfast which again was a combination of delicious chinese food and traditional english breakfast. I love both so I mixed those up a lot…
