51. Argentina: A resort and animal research institute in one. Part 2
The Research institute/”Ecoparque” (reptiliario)
For guests of the resort it was free to walk through the research institute area as well.
A trail from the restaurant immediately going right, instead of straight ahead via the wooden walkway, led through this area. First past some beautiful large flowers…
And this flesheating plant as well …
The butterfly farm
Then a sign directs toward the Butterfly farm…
It is a large glass house with a quite large collection of different butterfly species, of which this is an impression:
Next The Wandelgek walked into the:
Reptile area
This was a subtropical rainforest with a concrete path winding up and down through it.
There were confined areas for crocodiles, Alligators or caymans, not sure which …
and the snakes …
I thought tge area for snakes and crocs/alligators/ caymans was a bit sad. The animals had not much of a living space and it felt not good.
In the forest The Wandelgek finally had a good view of the Argentine black and white Tegu Lizzard…
It finally showed off with its beautiful head…
See my first attempt at photographing it:
This area seemed fine for tge lizzard which had plenty of space and was moving around. The snakes, etcetera were just playing dead.
And then there was this little fella crawling over the restaurant’s tile floor ….
Well that concludes part 2 of the resort tour.
To be honest:
This place, the “Ecoparque” (reptiliario) was in an abominable state for most of the reptiles. I mean, the reptiles in confined areas rather looked like they were dead. The lizzards in the forest were fine though as were the butterflies.
Have mixed feelings about this but it was included in the stay at the resort.
