27. Argentina: Through the Patagonian Desert back to El Calafate
The Wandelgek once more travelled south.
This part of the journey was through the border area of the Andean foothills and the Patagonian desert. Some of these hills or mountains seemed very old and worn down, eroded by wind, rain and ice. They looked a bit like the table shaped mountains in South Africa and even more like those in Namibia…
The Wandelgek retraced his route from El Calafate to El Chaltén and now ended at the end of the afternoon in El Calafate, Capital Nacional de los Glaciares, …
…where he checked into his hotel. This was actually the same hotel as he had been visiting in El Chaltén, named Kalenshen.
It was outside of the city center but still on a walking distance.
The room, …
….toilet and shower were clean and quite large…
Beneath is the rondabout near the hotel.
The Wandelgek walked towards the town center of El Calafate for dinner.
He walked over a roofed bridge crossing a tiny river into town and almost immediately spotted a La Zorra taproom 🥳.
He instantly decided that now he would not miss the opportunity to have dinner here and he entered to enjoy some tasty beers and a delicious burger with fries……and yeah there was plenty of ketchup and mayo too
The choise of beers was comparable to that in El Chaltén ‘s branch and thus excellent!!!
While walking home The Wandelgek was reminded of his stay at the La Zorra in El Chaltén and the voluntary fire fighters he met there because just before crossing the bridge out of the town center he saw the fire brigade station of El Calafate…
After this The Wandelgek crossed the roofed bridge…
…and returned to his hotel where he enjoyed another beer in the hotel bar area .
They served bottled beer of Otromundo Strong Red Ale:, which is quite good, but no competition for the La Zorra tap beers…
Then it was time to end the day, watch the played football matches, take a shower and go to sleep.
