Early bird walk through Kenyas Riftvalley (Lake Baringo National Reserve) (27-09-2002)
Hiking in the Riftvalley
Lake Baringo is way up north in the valley and the climate is very hot during daytime (above 50 degrees Celsius). Hence The Wandelgek rose up very early (precisely at sunrise and started an early bird morning hike.
The hike started at 6 and lasted ’till 10 o’clock in the morning (and then it was really hot), we walked with a local guide from the shore of the lake where the campsite was, to the cliffs at the edge of the valley and back again. It was a beautiful hike with great views of the cliffs, but also of many endemic animals and plants like snakes and scorpions…
