Wild horses
It had been a wonderful day, which started a bit grey but there was no rain and during the day the sun came out and the clouds dissolved. But the day hadn’t ended yet…
A herd of wild horses (The wild horse (Equus ferus) is a species of the genus Equus, which includes as subspecies the modern domesticated horse (Equus ferus caballus) as well as the undomesticated tarpan (Equus ferus ferus, now extinct), and the endangered Przewalski’s horse (Equus ferus przewalskii)) decided to trek from one end to the other end of the vale and in doing so, their leader moved them past the ger campsite just as the sun was setting…..
Wild horses
couldn’t drag me away.
Wild, wild horses
couldn’t drag me away.
I know I dreamed you
a sin and a lie
I got my freedom
but I don’t have much time.
Faith has been broken
and tears must be cried
let’s do some living
after love dies.
Wild Horses
couldn’t drag me away.
Wild, wild horses
we’ll ride them someday
Wild Horses
couldn’t drag me away.
Wild, wild horses
we’ll ride them someday.Song by The Rolling Stones
The low sunlight at sunset was amazing and the animals were very gently moving past my ger. A great opportunity for some photography…
One of the males was making his point…
A foal was quite interested in the dispute…
As the sun was setting and the twilight came, the light became even better (in Dutch language we call this “strijklicht”, don’t know the English name for that, but it is caused by almost horizontal lightbeams coming in sideways (not from the front or from behind) and in nature it is present when the sun rises or sets) …
I think the pic above is the best in this series and I like the ones below where the horse’s tails and manes are on fire….
The hills looked amazing as well in those last strokes of sunlight…
Then the sun was gone behind the hills…
…and the horses were slowly disapparating in the ever darkening twilight…
Then the herd could barely be seen …
The Wandelgek returned to his ger as it grew colder…
…and for a while he sat on the doorstep in front of his ger, gazing at the amazingly dark night sky and the bright Milky Way, showing itself in all its magnificent glory, far away from air and light pollution of the big towns…
