In July 1993 “The Wandelgek” started a 7-day hike through the rugged north of Swedish Lapland. The trip started wet and rainy in Abisko at the large Torneträsk lake. Near Abisko the Abiskojakka (Abisko River) flowed into this lake but first it ran through a 20 meter deep ravine (the Abisko Canyon).

In Abisko Ost itself it is perfectly possible to get groceries in the local supermarket.

The Naturum has a good exhibition about the biology and geology in the Fjäll.

The Turiststation is also a great place to stay on rainy days. A hot cup of coffee or tea and then into the tent.
